2022 Century Wind Power - Establish the "Taiwan Wind Industry Association (TWIA)"
To strengthen the domestic offshore wind power supply chain, Chairman
Lai Wen-Hsiang, along with executives from other wind power-related enterprises,
established the Taiwan Wind Industry Association (TWIA) in July 2022.
The inaugural meeting and the first board of directors and supervisors meeting
were held on July 19 (as shown in Figure 1). Chairman Lai Wen-Hsiang
of Century Wind Power was elected as the association’s first chairman.
Chairman Lai stated that wind turbines consist of hundreds of components,
yet the current localization policy mainly focuses on assembly work,
with critical parts such as generators rarely using domestically
produced components. This approach provides limited benefits
to the local industry. The association's goal
is to enhance the local supply chain, ensuring that everything from a single screw
to an entire generator is produced in Taiwan, thereby establishing a truly
rooted offshore wind industry in the country.
